State Appeals Court Finds Attorney Ineffective for Failing to Object to Client Wearing Jumpsuit, Shackles at Trial |

In a reversal of a postconviction relief court, a South Carolina appeals court found that a convicted man’s lawyer was ineffective for failing to object to his client being forced to wear a prison jumpsuit, with a detention center’s name stamped on it, shackles and handcuffs throughout his trial.

The man also had leg irons removed in front of the jury at his trial, according to the appellate opinion.
