Maryland Family Law Attorney Disbarred After Failing to Account for Large Withdraws From Client’s Family Trusts |

A solo practitioner focusing on family law in Maryland has been disbarred after using assigned power of attorney to make cash withdrawals from a client’s trust account, then allegedly misappropriating funds and failing to fully account for $594,247, according to a Maryland Supreme Court opinion.

Wendy Barrow Culberson, who was admitted to practice in 1994, has been disbarred after the high court said “she engaged in self-dealing as it relates to the unreasonable fees charged” to the client, “and fees she paid herself in her role as [the client’s] agent or attorney, without providing any accounting, oversight, or authorization.”
