Federal Court Retains Jurisdiction Over State Law Malpractice Claims Against Maryland Employment Attorney | Law.com

A federal judge has denied a Texas man’s request to remand a legal malpractice lawsuit against a Maryland employment lawyer to state court, finding his claims turn on the construction of federal law.

The plaintiff, Stephane Wantou, filed a pro se complaint against Chevy Chase, Maryland-based DK Associates and its principal attorney, Daniel E. Kenney, in Montgomery County Circuit Court for legal malpractice, fraud, breach of contract and breach of fiduciary duty in connection to Kenney’s representation in an underlying action against CVS RX Services, Inc.
